Other Tips
Determine
short-term, and long-term goals.Weigh yourself at the same time
of the day, as your weight can vary over the course of the day.
A good time
is in the morning, just after you've waken up and gone to the
bathroom, but
before any eating or drinking.
Get
involved in the food buying for your family.Buy items that appeal
to you
and be sure to read the labels. Look at calories as well as fat
content. Eat
more "low fat" foods. This way, you're still eating
the same amounts or more,
but there is less fat going into your body.
Avoid regular mayonnaise, use lowfat or fat free. Try mustard
on all your
sandwiches instead of mayonnaise. Mustard has no fat and very
little
calories, Mayo, on the other hand, is loaded with fat.
Spice
it up. Use mustard or hot sauce to spice up diet foods. Both contain
no
fat and very little calories.
When
ordering a salad. Ask for "Low-fat" or "no-fat"
dressing, standard
dressing is usually loaded with fat.
Try
to eat white meat (seafood, baked chicken, and turkey) instead
of red
meat (beef) .
Avoid
Chips, Peanuts, Coconut and Buttered Popcorn, they are loaded
with fat!
Go for Pretzels, Plain Popcorn are much better snacks. Chewing
gum is a great
way to keep your mouth busy.
Avoid
eating after 8pm. Your metabolism slows down as the day goes on.
So try
to get in the habit of eating earlier, you don't want food sitting
in your
stomach while your sleeping.
Don't make the mistake thinking you have to stop eating to lose
weight.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Your body is programmed
to speed up
your metabolism and burn calories when you eat. The key is to
eat healthier
and drink plenty of water.
Make
it a point to have a good nutritional breakfast to start the day.
Plan
your breakfast the night before. Especially if you don't have
much time in
the morning.
Don't
underestimate drinking water! Always try to drink a full glass
of water
before eating. Water will help fill you up without eating as much
food.
Water aids in digestion and is the best way to keep your metabolism
going
and keep your body healthy.
A good
habit is to take a short break at work once each hour take a small
walk to get a glass of water. This mini break will even improve
your work
performance.
